January-March 2017 Workshops
These workshops are designed to inspire creativity. I will gently guide you through each step, as you learn new techniques, experiment, and complete a project, in a safe, supportive environment.
January 28, 2017
10:30am to 1:00pm
It’s the end of the month. You’ve had some time to reflect on the last year and absorb the changes that 2017 will bring.
Think of this process as an invitation to all the things you want to bring forward in your life in 2017.
How do you want to feel?
What one word to you want to experience to its fullest?
What does all of this look like?
You may not be in control, but you are in charge. This is the first step to creating the life you desire.
We’ll incorporate your favorite symbols, mantras, and quotes into the background, creating your own unique vision board
Then, we’ll add images that reflect your ultimate vision for 2017.
This isn’t static. Your board is meant to change and develop as you experience joys and challenges throughout the year.
Join us for this vision board workshop, and activate your within.
Cost includes one 11×17 bulletin board and all art materials.
Mixed-Media Affirmation Paintings
February 25, 2017
9:00am to 1:00pm
An affirmation is a sentence or thought, that when repeated several times a day can help to change the way we think. It is a positive declaration and something declared to be true. In this workshop, we will create a personal affirmation that speaks to us and helps us return to center, and we will learn techniques for adding color, texture, images, and text to a painting. By the end of this workshop, we will have created richly layered paintings, with beautifully textured backgrounds and affirmations that feed our souls.
Cost includes one 8×10 canvas and all art materials.

Facilitated by Kara Ashley-Gilmore
Create your own Zen garden out of a small cigar box, collage materials, paints, natural materials (sand, moss, shells, stones, etc), and ephemera!
Bring your own box to use or purchase one for $1 or $3 when you arrive.
Weaving our Stories
March 25, 2017
9:00am to 1:00pm
Can you remember the things that have shaped who you are in this present moment?
We all have a story to tell, and we cannot, not tell our stories.
Combing the art of storytelling, through writing, and the weaving of papers, fabrics, and natural materials, we will create a tapestry of our past and present lives.
Your story is sacred. It is beautiful, and it matters.
All supplies Included.

Monday, March 20th, 6-7:30pm
Grab a brush and let it all out.
Your fears, your dreams, your joys, your frustrations…There’s room for all of it here.
We’ll use the principles of intuitive painting as our guide for self-expression through lines, colors, and shapes.
These workshops are about the process of art-making–the release of emotions, the building of confidence, self-acceptance, and self-compassion–not what your final painting looks like.
I’ll provide an optional prompt or theme and share painting techniques during each class.

“It’s Never too Late to Begin Again”
A 12-Week Creativity Development group based on “The Artist’s Way” author, Julia Cameron’s, latest book,
If you are struggling to figure out “what’s next?” in mid-life or retirement, this is the group for you. Over the course of twelve weeks, we will use Julia Cameron’s four creativity tools (bi-weekly walks, weekly artist’s dates, daily morning pages, and weekly memoir writing) to re-discover our joys and experience a creative re-birth. This process is life-changing, but it does require a commitment and investment of time to do the homework and use the tools provided. Trust me, it will be worth it.

- “I appreciate the masterful job you did with planning and preparation. The whole workshop gave such a sense of being carefully designed and thoughtfully set up — with delightful materials: art supplies bountiful but not overwhelming, decorated and encouraging individual packets of goodies… It seems you thought of everything, right down to that tiny envelope for our message to ourselves. It was all so inviting and pleasing.”
REGISTRATION POLICY: No refunds or credits of any payment will be made for notification of withdrawal within 7 days of the start of the workshop, once the workshop has started or for missed sessions of groups. We reserve the right to cancel a workshop if minimum enrollment is not met; in which case, the registration fee will be fully refunded. When we receive your registration we will send confirmation and specific workshop information. If the workshop is full, you will be notified that you have been placed on a waiting list. I limit workshops to 6-8 participants to allow each student the necessary time and space to complete their project. Therefore early registration is optimal to guarantee your seat.
