Join us for a relaxing session of mindful art-making! This workshop offers a relaxing and engaging art therapy experience focused on mindfulness and simple mark-making. Using watercolors and basic drawing materials as tools for relaxation, participants will be guided through a series of creative mark-making exercises and grounding techniques, followed by a longer, meditative mandala painting session. The painting sessions will incorporate the basic principles of mindfulness, like non-judgement, patience, and acceptance, to help you stay present and at ease.

Session Outline:
1. Introduction & Welcome (10 minutes): Group members will introduce themselves and their intentions for our time together. The facilitator will introduce the 7 principles of mindfulness and the concept of mindfulness-based art-making.

  1. Mindful Mark-Making (45 minutes): Participants will be guided in at least 3 methods for using art-making as a mindfulness practice. The facilitator will provide simple, step-by-step instructions while encouraging a free, intuitive process and prompts for breathwork and somatic awareness.
  2. Break (5 min)
  3. Mandala Creation (30 min): Participants will create an intuitive, abstract mandala drawing.
  4. Clean up (10 minutes)
  5. Closing & Reflection (20 minutes): A moment for participants to reflect on their experience. The
emphasis will be on the process and the resulting feelings, rather than the quality of the images
    created during the workshop.
